Located in the Potomac Yards neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia, the APTA Centennial Center is a LEED Silver project. The connecting public plaza features locally sourced and custom fabricated granite wall caps and bioretention planter curb. To meet LEED’s “regional materials” requirements, products must be sourced from within a 100-mile radius of the project site. Virginia Mist granite meets that requirement and helps projects in the metropolitan D.C. area remain sustainable and reduce their environmental footprint. Blackhill produced detailed shop drawings and custom-fabricated wall coping and bioretention planter curb to the exact design of the architect.
